REM focuses on the analysis and use of the latest Technology for Bulk and Unit Materials Handling and the Transport of People. The area of operations is within the Southern African Market.
REM Construction Consultants (REM) is an independent Consulting Company with offices in Randburg, South Africa. REM undertakes feasibility studies all over Africa from Preconcept to Bankable Level, and has provided turnkey solutions and ongoing maintenance on several installations in Southern Africa.
REM are Local Partners of the world leading experts in the design and installation of cable technology for material transport - Doppelmayr Transport Technology GmbH of Austria. Their specific technologies include the innovative "RopeCon®" and "RailCon" systems for Bulk Material Handling and Transport. The RopeCon® Technology is developed, designed and implemented by Doppelmayr Transport Technology of Austria. The Technology is proven with multiple installations operating world wide.
The Ropeway /Cableway technology is provided by various Specialist Companies (Origonal Equipment Manufacturer "OEM") depending on type, size and duty).
REM scope of technologies has now widened to include the transport and handling of Containers using magnetically elevated carriers running on elevated or ground based tracks. This technology is developed by TSB Cargo.
REM works with and advises Clients on whether and which Technology Systems could be considered as a viable option in their plans. If an option is selected to be evaluated, REM will develop the scope and interface within the project. REM will introduce the suitable O.E.M. companies to address their scope of work and expertise. The O.E.M. Contractor will closely define their battery limits and REM provides a service to the Client in developing the associated facilities up to the battery limits within the overall project.
REM's SERVICES
Services provided by REM include:
Introduction to and explanation of the technology - face to face with Clients and Engineers
Preliminary review of specific Client plans to advise whether the technology could be studied further
Conceptual preliminary Study / Analysis of the technology system vs other conventional methods of transport
Professional Assistance with project specifications within the Mining and Engineering plans
Development of the performance parameters and detailed specifications for the specific System within the project
Assistance with incorporating the technology within the Concept Studies, Pre-feasibility and Feasibility Studies.
Undertake Risk Assessment of RopeCon® or Rope-way system within the project
Provision of an overall Supervisory role for or with the Client to monitor the project execution by the Engineering / Project team
Monitoring of the interface of the Rope technology systems with all the other project work, foundations, equipment and systems, legal certification etc.
A full turnkey contract on a small person cable-way project has been undertaken by REM -- Euphoria Golf Estate Cable-way. Large cable-way projects would normally be contracted by the relevant Specialist Company.

REM's primary function is to introduce the technology to Southern Africa. REM will work with the Client teams to fit the selected option into the plans with the performance parameters and physical definition. These facts are handed over to OEM Contractors for definition, preliminary design and budgeting.
